18 Days After a Quick Visit to the Other Side

Insights After Encountering the Beyond

Life has a way of deepening our perspective in the most unexpected ways. Recently, I had an encounter that reshaped (yet again) my understanding of existence—a quick and gentle near-death-experience (NDE) that took me to the edge of life and beyond. Now, 18 days after this profound event, I find myself reflecting on the immediate impact, the lessons learned, and the subtle yet powerful changes it brought to my life.

An Unplanned Journey to the Beyond

18 days ago, I stood toe-to-toe with my mortality. What started as an ordinary day quickly transformed into an extraordinary encounter with the numinous. As my consciousness began to slip away, I found myself immersed in a reality that transcended the physical world—a place characterized by profound peace, interconnectedness, and a calming sense of love. I had been there 3 times before. Each time it is easier to recognize. Each time it feels more natural.

Navigating the Immediate Shifts

Returning from this otherworldly experience was both disorienting and enlightening. In these 18 days since my last NDE, I've noticed several changes:

  1. Heightened Awareness

Every moment feels more vivid and precious. The simple act of breathing, the warmth of the sun, and the embrace of loved ones have taken on new profound significance. Awareness of one’s mortality, and of the limitation of time, does change everything.

  2. Emotional Sensitivity

I've found myself more emotionally attuned and sensitive. The spectrum of human emotion feels richer, from the deepest joy to the most raw vulnerability. It feels like emotions are closer to my skin. And it feels like it is extra important to feel everything, and that shared emotions really need to be cared for and well held.

  3. Clarified Priorities

The distinction between what truly matters and what is inconsequential became stark (once again). Pursuits that felt like a priority before, have receded into the background, making way for a genuine connection to what is present and alive right now. I have been surprised by some of the insights, while others came as obvious conclusions.

  4. The Simple Joy of Finding Myself Again

I’ve been surprised by the simplest joy of looking down and finding my own hands, my body, my legs, my feet. Just the act to looking down and finding myself, here, embodied. It has gotten me giggling and even jumping up and down in excitement at the mere fact of being alive. Something never to take for granted.

  5. Radiant Feeling of Having the Possibility to Do my Work

After this last NDE, I went for a walk by the ocean, soothing my nervous system, and grounding myself as I walked on the sand, and had my feet touching the water. There was a beautiful moment of looking at the ocean, feeling the wavy motion, and having the light of the Sun reflected at me, when I saw my hands and felt that it is an absolute priviledge that I get to be here and use this hands to do (my) work. Or to use these hands to do work that Life wants to be put into the world. What an honour, that through my body I get to serve Life as I willingly serve by doing my work here now.

The Path Forward

These 18 days have been just the beginning of what I will be a much longer journey of reflection, growth, and spiritual exploration. This soft near-death-experience adds transformation to the 22 year long process I’ve been on with my previous 3 NDE’s. They leave an indelible mark on my soul, guiding me toward a path of deeper connection, compassion, and intentional living. As I continue to navigate this transformed landscape, I am committed to embracing life’s surprises and allowing its gifts to unfold naturally.
